Product Recommendations

If you've ever been to my home gym or I've trained you in your house and you've wondered what equipment you should get, here are some suggestions. I thought it would be helpful to compile them all in a handy list.

Full disclosure: I earn a small percentage from every purchase.

Hexagonal Dumbbells

When it comes to dumbbells these are the ones I prefer. I have them ranging from 10 up to 50 lbs (I have lighter ones too but they're not this shape). They're made of rubber so they can be dropped to a certain degree.

Dumbbell rack

It's a sturdy, no frills, tiered dumbbell rack. It can hold up to 1,000 lbs and mine is filled with 10-50 lbs dumbbells. There's probably still room for 55 and 60 on the bottom. It's pretty easy to assemble.

Kettlebell pairs

These are some of the Kettlebells I have. There are some cheaper options out there, but the free shipping on these is nice and they've solid cast iron. I like to have my sets jump up in increments of 10 lbs and use Dumbbells for anything in between.

Titan Fitness T-2 Series Power Rack

This is the squat cage I have. Because of height restrictions we had to get the lower one, but I would recommend the taller one. It's pretty easy to assemble as long as you've got a torque wrench. It's incredibly sturdy and ships free, which is always a plus on big items like that.

Titan Fitness Barbell

This is just a solid, no frills barbell. Honestly, most any barbell that's 20 kg with at least 800 lbs capacity should be fine for a home gym, but this is the one I use.

Hex Bar

This is the Hex bar I have. I love that it's open on one side and stands up so you can load it a lot easier than a regular hex bar. It holds up to 700 lbs, which should be enough for home gym workouts.

Power wheel

If you've worked out at Alloy or my gym you've definitely seen this contraption. It's basically just an ab wheel that lets you strap your feet in. What I like about this one as opposed to the usual one is that it's bigger and wider so your shoulders are a bit more open.

Fat Gripz dumbbell and barbell grip enhancers

These are really great for building grip strength! They basically just double the circumference of the the weight handle, forcing you to grip harder. I also really like them on the power wheel, because those thin handles can be uncomfortable.

Barbell Jack

I love this thing for loading up a barbell for deadlifts, hip thrust, etc. It makes the process way easier than having to hold up the barbell and load the plate with the other hand

Slam ball

This is the slam ball I use. I have 15, 20, and 30 lbs

Great for a quick cardio burst.

Battle Ropes (1.5 in 20 ft)

These aren't the ones I have because they're unavailable for some reason, but these are legit. I like that they have a protective sheath around them so they won't shed fibers all over your floor.

Workout mats with rubber top

These are the mats I use. I like that they're interlocking and have a rubber coating. They clean easy and interlock well for the price.

Black adjustable push-up bars for fitness exercises.

Free standing dip bars

If you've visited my home gym, you've likely used these for pushups, dips, or possibly inverted rows. They're an excellent multi-purpose piece of equipment that is very affordable.

Personally, I recommend not using the connecting bar so you can lay them down for pushups and use them individually.

Set of five resistance bands with different weight levels and a man demonstrating one.

Resistance bands

These are the resistance bands I use in my gym. They're great quality and very reasonably priced. I generally recommend ordering two packs so you can do double arm exercises with them or mix and match.

Handles for resistance bands

These handles are cheap, sturdy, and make the resistance bands a whole lot easier to use.

Carabiners for resistance bands

These are great for attaching handles to to the resistance bands. They're nice and big, so easy to use.

Swiss Ball

There are a ton of different options, and they're all probably fine. This is just the one I use. I have the 55 cm one and that's generally good for most people.
